Okay I went on the assumption that this film was going to be silly and overly humourous because that is what the trailer is like. That assumption was very much mistaken and the trailer somewhat misleading. The film is charming, funny and has a mild spooky atmosphere that is not frightening. In fact it is typical Tim Burton style. Johnny Depp as always plays his character well – it is hard to say if he is a good actor or just good at quirky, perhaps a bit of both. I was disappointed when I saw the trailer but now I can honestly say they have done the original Dark Shadows series proud. I hope we get to see more Barnabus Collins!

Back from Lanzarote

Had a fantastic time. The below photos were taken on my phone. The weather was great – sun, some cloud and of course windy. Nice and warm during the day but able to sleep at night. Resort was not too noisy and apartment was very nice. Obviously ate more than I thought as I have gained weight – a sign perhaps of a good holiday haha! We did a couple of days of trips, one using the “Hop On Hop Off” bus and one organised through Lastminute Lanzarote (not Lastminute.com). I shall do separate posts for the places we visited once photos are sorted as they are on the camera and we took a lot of pictures! We stayed in the Sol Apartments in Costa Teguise which has been refurbished as it changed hands late last year and is now a fantastic self-catering complex.

Well what can I say – fantastic

John Owen-Jones is 100% perfect and Katie Hall has an incredible voice. The costumes were amazing and well, tbh it was brilliant. Much enjoyed.

My First Master’s Installation

So yesterday was my Lodge’s Installation, a pretty much whole day affair that finished around 10.00pm. Was very excited and somewhat nervous but had an amazing time. There is something therapeutic about going through the ritual, about mingling with like-minded ladies and feeling at home. I am still nervous when speaking but hope I grow in confidence.

I have now earned my first role, which is Steward. I get the opportunity to learn how to set up the Lodge, what goes where and who has sugar in their tea. I am looking forward to this greatly and hope I do well. My friend who has joined at the same time has become Inner Guard and I know she will do a most excellent job. I am glad that I did not miss out the stewardship though as I need to grow before I have a speaking role in Lodge.

Anyway enough about me! The day was fantastic, everything went well, the food wasn’t bad but hey, I’m a right fussy bod when it comes to restaurants, the company was great and whilst I was not very happy with my method of presenting flowers to a very important visitor (I tripped over my dress and then tripped over my words) everyone thought I did okay. Both me and my friends were referred to in toasts and there is great hope placed upon us both, something of which I am honoured and somewhat in awe. My method is one step at a time and not to think too far ahead. After all I have to learn what I need to learn now in order to build upon it for the future positions. Oh dear, I went back to talking about me again doh!

The rumours about Freemasonry that abound on the internet are so wrong. There is nothing that secretive about it except for that which is needed to recognise another Freemason and tbh even that is on the Internet along side the falsehood. We raised a lot of money for charity last year, and shall do so no doubt this year.

Well anyone who knows me knows what I am going to say – go see it pronto! Now, right now! It is brilliant and Loki is impressively scary, crazy with a hint of vulnerable. Damn the film is good The heros are incredible, S.H.I.E.L.D. is incredible. Ah, sod it, it is all incredible haha! I shall be going to see it again but in 2D.

Muchness like the first movie. Was not boring but it was imho average. Bill Nighy was perfection and Liam Neeson was excellent, oh and so was Rosamund Pike, but the rest, well tbh they were handed a load of crappy lines and oh so corny.

Hmm, okay it is definitely a weird teenie film. It had some good ideas but was way way way too long. Sorry, but I just was not impressed. I was however impressed by the imagery and design – it is a feast for the eyes at times, very impressive fashion and makeup.

Nelson Pit Walk No. 3

Supposed to be around 4 miles but even with a detour or two came to around 3.6 or so. GPS records may not be entirely correct as I forgot to delete some previous details.

This walk saw us going over some different terrain and locations – was nice and warm. Was also very busy with Scouts and what I presume is the Ramblers’ Association.

Lymm Walk

Okay we did a repeat of the Lymm walk we had done earlier in the year when it was icy. Oddly enough the new Garmin had the distance as a 2.5 mile walk or thereabouts. The previously Etrex had it as under 2 miles. But yay! So we also did a few other bits and bobs to get a geocache so the GPS figures give the total that we walked today, the Google Earth gives the walk details We have finally found 100 geocaches! Finally
